I think you will run into issues once you get into the 94 model years as there is a time when they transferred over to the 95 style ecus. Most (if not all) OBD 1 style ecus between 91-93 will work ...

Sometimes chatter up top is related to low oil or low oil pressure.
Check your oil level to make sure and possibly drain it to see how much oil you have and if any shavings are in there!
