The door chime is on the same fuse as the idle control valve. I was just checking to see if it was a blown fuse. :(

Do you have a burner and chips you can burn?
Look at it as an excuse to do a little headwork. Just massage the bowls slightly and get a good valve cut done. It wont break the bank just basic work and should net a nice little improvement.
