I have done this with Marvel Mystery oil. A few ounces in each cyl.
In fact I have a VE in storage like this now.

Just put a little oil in each cylinder and spin to coat the walls and rings, you dont need to fill it all the way up. A couple of cap fulls would do.

Regardless of cost, you'd be bonkers to daily a big cammed DE. They drive like a dog below 3k, where a VE is nice and smooth on the baby cams.

Happynole's DE was not a normal DE.

It was 50% VE and cost a pretty penny to build. It was interesting to tune as it shared some characteristics of the VE through the power band.

As Chris has said, you barely recoup any money on a standard USDM DE. I have sourced them locally for $150-300 in various junkyards, plus they do not pull a premium before race wars like they used...

This can be answered in multiple ways depending on your individual needs/desires.

^^^ but a propper VE set-up is much more than cams in a DE. If you go with a milder cam, you can just drop in. For the milder cams, although not ideal, the stock or g20 ECU (and safc if you want) ...

Running S4's in my daily right here. I'm right around 160whp, plenty of power for the street and track. Also, if you plan to go turbo later on (like me), S4's are a great turbo cam.
