This thread is quite the throwback.

I, too, am unimpressed with the "new GG" but I'm sure it will be well attended. GG last year definitely looked like pick-a-part with all the beater ass cars, so maybe it's for the best.

well, here is how i see it.

Like it or not, NWN has taken GG in a different direction.

The current makeup of NWN is very interested in this type of event and I see the reasoning behind it.

There really is no point in going through the time and the expense in getting the FWD cars on track for something that spectators just don't care to see. The real money in this sort of event is spectators, that's the business reality. NWN is spending some coin to do this, so money has to be made.

What about throwing a GG event at GG on the usual day? Good luck with that, I wouldn't want to compete with another event of that possible size.

Sucky but true, like i said - everything changes.

Hey I havent seen some of these screen names in a while haha. I agree, GG is a completely different meet now, and unless they did it at drag strip or road course and not a "drift" track, the FWD cars will be unwelcome. Thats all there is to it.

I set up a meet at Rooster Rock park, through NWN, about 4-5 years ago, and the turn out was pretty good. Which is why im suggesting it again. Its not too far from Portland, but also we can get in a nice cruise on the way, without the 240 kids trying to drift every turn. Also, im not trying to get a ton of people. All are welcome as far as im concerned (non-idiots of course), but im not going to post it up on any other forums. This seems to be the only legit Nissan forum for fwd cars.

Honestly I dont like the idea of having it at a shop or "garage", especially ones that have NO fwd sr20/Sentra parts... Whats the point of us bringing them potential business if they have nothing to offer us?

Rooster rock is cool. But I also like meeting at shops if I can have a few dyno rips. Usually some pretty good advice too.

I am going to have to disagree with this Darren... Point of having meets or bbqs at shops is to gain more support for us FWD guys. Just because shops don't carry parts on hand, doesn't mean that they don't support FWD guys. Its the cheap FWD guys that are part of the problem of why shops don't bother to support them.

We held our mr2 meets at Trackforged, we have supported them and in doing so we have come together to get this car here built. 91' Toyota Celica Alltrac Turbo, which happens to be my brothers car. I did most the engine build at home and Forged did me the favor of building us a one off custom turbo kit and FMIC kit for showing our support to the shop. They went ahead with it and built this kit for a car that is limited production. Plans are also in for actually producing this kit now. previously it was only Mr2's getting parts built for them. With the local help of a guy named Joe and I we have gotten a great piece of exhaust built for the celica guys now as well.

We recently just asked for them to build a mid-pipe group buy for the alltrac/gt4 guys, them knowing that these cars were limited production and how hard the possible sales were going to be, they still built them and we have sold 5 of them so far.

I fully support having a meet at a shop and actually talking about having things built.

I am actually very good friends with this whole shop and they have done alot of work for my brothers and I.

It will be up to the rest of the SR guys to decide.

I say we go for it. I need a dyno run to tune my car anyways. Dyno is better than no dyno.
