I have a brand new stage 4 competition clutch kit and a SR16 flywheel... Only thing is I'm putting it in tomorrow and didn't resurface the flywheel. Will I be okay or is it a must? I'm broke right now so yea lol.
My motor had 175 k, ive owned it since it was 45k, ive done the only clutch replacement the cars ever seen and i didnt resurface the flywheel, and everything is still fine after changing the clutch on the car 6 months ago. It just varies, my flywheel looked fine and smoth enough still.

like dan said....if it's not grooved you SHOULD be ok....i've done several clutches without resurfacing the flywheel with no issues.....but it does depend on what the flywheel looks like

Can I ask a stupid question? What do you need a stage 4 clutch for? Did you grab a 2871R and not tell me?
If it doesn't have a lot of hotspots or messed up wear on the friction surface you can scuff it with some really fine grit sand paper and it will most likely hold. Do a search for the proper way to do this method that tbh a lot of people would not consider a good call.
Its pretty cheap to skim a flywheel though but you have to make sure they know what to do. You can eff it up pretty bad and some machine shops can make mistakes. ITs not like they give your flywheel to their master technician.

I would think twice before installing a stage 4 clutch based on a setup you do not have in hand atm.
