I wouldnt say nobody, maybe nobody on this forum but there are plenty of other people overseas and in the rwd crowd that doesnt know alot about the VET gasket and its ability to seal a 92mm motor.

But yes, and that makes perfect sense, why would you pay more for something that doesnt work any better and has the downfall of not being reusable vs something that can be and is by far cheaper. Its logic. Again doesnt make the other one garbage. Besides the stupid coating on it, the gasket is designed really well.

We cant still figure out why they cannot be re-used. The only conclusion we can come with is the blocks that we have done and step decked, compared to the regular resurface, is where the gaskets work and dont work. Again we've re-use this in the past with 0 issues, we've used this in our big motors and still continue to use them to this day.

As far as us promoting the VE-T gasket, we are not per say promoting it over the the better gasket, just another option for the budget guys with the boring option. So far they have held, and the biggest hp we've seen in response is about 500ish hp.

I would honestly say that if you have those 3 there, I will take those 3 and put them in our race motor and run them and wouldnt have a shadow of a doubt using them. Now if you had detonated the motor and the firing ring seperated then no, it cannot be re-used.

Mazworx, all the PE gaskets ive seen have that black coating on the gasket just like the Cosworth gaskets. When I was using a DE head i used the Cosworth gasket because the design is awesome and it was cheap at 150 shipped. But just like the PE it also had the black coating and even if it was only on for barely any run time, one heat cycle, the coating would come off in sections of the gasket both on the firing ring and in other areas. Im sure if you tried to reuse it, it would leave enough of a gap that it could affect sealing. Again i preferred not to find out and not reuse them. The coating is thick enough to where you can feel the lip of places it was down to the metal gasket and where there was coating. Again probably not the best thing for sealing purposes.

Again i think this is the primary reason for it. The VET gasket does not have this coating that comes off and a good reason why it could be reused as long as there is no damage to it.

Plus, the vet gasket is a softer metal, when torqued, seals properly...let's see.how long the guys who have had success with the gasket so far lasts

I am giving Cometic a shot.. If I run into issues a VET gasket will be the next option.

- Rob, I know your stuff, but I would go VET off top. I went ahead and picked up two for my motors. One bored for 92mm and the other one will work with our 87mm pistons with no modifications needed. I had GregV double check just for a piece of mind.

I would like to add a point of view if the OP lets me!! related to the headgasket!!
I know Maxworz would not like this but!!!
The PE Maxzwoz head gasket its not appropriate for the 92mm bore motors!!!
1.The bore of the gasket its not 92mm its 91.XX
2. All sleeved motors will have the same issue that is that the top of piston not the crown will set above the deck of the block since resurfacing of the block its obligatory!!!!
3. The issue its that the 92mm piston doesn't have enough piston to head gasket clearance when heat expansion happen this only will be an issue on 92mm bore motors not on 90mm since gasket its 91.xx mm on the bore this is why there its so many failures on this headgasket period we had to take a custom pistons here machined on the top to try to battle with the issue but I think the OP did the same last tome motor was put together!! Still had issues

i have a Maz gasket on my 2.4 . i also had maz do a tear down of the engine after the first 1200 miles and check bearings etc every thing was 100%. we reused the head gasket and now the engine has and additional 8000+ miles on it. 1200 alone from the drive to Ohio and back for the convention. just some fuel for the fire
