header update...
ordered a few pieces from this company...Tube Bending & Fabrication - Columbia River Mandrel Bending so i can make some changes to the "big tube" header. plan is to make the outlet transition from 3" to 2.5", then flare back to 3" for hookup to the collector. also gonna have the slip joints welded up to prevent leakage.

^ good move !

2.5 should be a good size. i know i tried 2.3/4 choke on my big tube header, it worked but might have done better with a 2.5 choke.

seems these motors dont like to much back pressure, but to little looses power.

stratton.

update..
got a call from the shop. they needed washers for the oem head bolts. so i dropped off the washers from the arp head studs. had a chance to look at the progress....the head was on, 184c cams installed w/g-spec gears. Bob had the degree wheel on the crank and a gauge sitting on the #1 intake valve.
it'll be ready this Thursday

improved reliability!
with what we've found that was done WRONG on the original build, (thanks a lot charlie), i'm much more optimistic about this iteration of the 2.45L. the increased pwr across the rpm range of the new cams should be extremely satisfying. (not that it was a slug on the N1's:rofl
however, i'm torn between using the stock i/m from the spare motor or the xcessive/short runner/70mm t/b combo i was using earlier. leaning towards dynoing with the stock setup and t/b, then swapping in the xcessive combo/70mm t/b for dyno later on for a good comparo.

What have you found that was done wrong? It would be nice to see the manifold comparison....

between the .004" high front cover and the pistons too close (within .001") to h/g, i think that was enough.
the pistons are now fully custom...
right on, the i/m comparo
