Here is one scenario most recently:

There is one guy in Jamaica that re-used a gasket on time and it failed, not saying because he sprayed copper spray on it or not, but when we sent him another one and put it on dry, it worked no problem. Then he dyno'ed the car, pulled the head off to have us do work on it and re-used that same gasket and made 802whp multiple times.

We've thought about it a few times to put a A/M car together but since our main focus is SR20 big horsepower its tough to dive into that market. And honestly we dont get enough support from the FWD market for us to invest our time and money into building a car.

Not to toot our horn but the 2 that you are talking about were built or sleeved by us are still running and running good as far as I know. If you can name anyone else that had a sleeved motor from us that failed, be more than glad to PM me the name and I can verify. There's alot of people that claim to have "Mazworx" sleeved blocks and usually we are the first to be thrown into the fire when something goes wrong.

If anyone is in the area, come visit the facility and we can show and tell you how everything is done. Its no secret.

I do see why ud do 90 on a meth or alch motor. A friend of mine is building a 90 alch motor also and he has the same reason for doing so as you.

As far as reusing the gaskets I dont know of one person who has managed to get a used gasket to reseal 100%.

One out of many isnt a good number to bet on.

I would like to see you guys build an all out all motor 2.4 ve and show us what we are all doing wrong.

If and or that does ever happen id have a check with ur name on it.

Until that day ill view it as not a feasible set up.

2 out of the 12 big bore big stroke motors are still kicking. I do know many of them have gone threw your hands. But I do know of a few that have and have dropped sleeves.

I hope you guys can show us what you can do.

Im sure I dont speak for myself when I said were waiting with cash in hand.

Good luck with your current builds and keep in mind what ive said in the future.

Stratton.

Again Mazworx sticks by their stuff and they are right. The 2.4's are really suffering because everything is having to be custom and R&D done to improve. Biggest things are the cams. Yes the Kelford cam finally made more than the n1's but how many sets had to be made for that to finally come about and although it makes more power and holds it out longer its still not that impressive for a 900 dollar set of cams. From what ive seen on corys build it made 10whp more and about 1000 rpm more of good powerband.

Going back to the k series, when you have one company that makes a race cam that makes 20whp more than the already good type r cam and then another company (Drag Cartel) makes a cam that puts out an additional 30whp on top of that other aftermarket cam and even more powerband. You can begin to see how far behind the VE is in the aftermarket support.

I dont think companies have even begun to touch on making great power with a good set of cams. Dont get me wrong. Kelford has done good work soo far but its going to take alot more than what they have put out soo far to start being impressive.

So how long did it take you to break in a motor? And how many miles and what type of miles hwy/city.

Just had someone send me a message and this quote caught my eye. Pretty interesting observation from this guy

"Was talking to Mike Kojima , he was saying there is a 50% failure rate with sleeves"

Really?????

Some people are just frustrated and drop your name unfortunately. If I had the funds I'd love to a 92mm build, but alas I don't.

I try my best not to get involved in the side talk, especially what 99% of the people who put their 2 cents in have no first hand experience with these motors.

There are other motors outside of the 2 you are referring to that have been up and running for the same amount of time. One parted out after a few thousand miles and another that killed a set of rings after 130 dyno runs and was re-assembled.

The other two blocks that are not running period, again have nothing to do with being a 92x92 motor. I do not understand why this is so hard to understand. So 3 out of 7 big bore blocks failed because of "user error" or sleeving issues. Whats the big deal? Go to Mazworx or Custom Design Performance to have a block sleeved, while using a fresh head gasket. Done.

Mazworx you assembled one 2.4L that we know of running, the other you just sleeved. Outside of sleeving these blocks and assembling short blocks, (since the heads were ported elsewhere) what experience do you have with these 2.4s?

Too many people are quick to jump to conclusions and have input to share when behind the scenes its a totally different ballgame.

You and i know that our machine shop does an excellent job sleeving blocks, so we know first hand its not a sleeving issue. Just fucked myself reusing the headgasket. If mazworx wants the headgasket for inspection i can send the the gasket and they can do what they want with it.
