Hell if you look at the K series, they are still going through crap with their big stroker builds 2.6 and 2.7L motors. Whether it be from sleeves dropping/shifting, headgaskets, rod bearing, piston to valve contact. You look at the precentage of those 2.6L and 2.7L builds that fail within a couple months of being built and you will see the average of failure is way higher than the success rate.
And just like some of you guys they are using a factory K series metal gasket and having it bored out to match and seems to be the best results as the aftermarket ones have all seemed to have failed. However they are only going to 89mm bores from 86mm. So not quite the expansion going from 86 to 92. All in all you guys all paved the way and im sure while a lot of the failures were sleeve related problems, others headgaskets from reusing and so on, and a couple bearing failures, im sure more will continue to try these builds. I mean hell even 260whp almost guranteed even using just off the shelf parts is pretty good in my eyes but i know most were expecting more.
You are definitely a different group of indivuals that stuck with something and tried to pave the way for bigger and better things and you did just that. Fact is, it gets expensive and very fast especially when stuff keeps going wrong. You look at most all the big stroker, big bore k series builds. Almost all of them done by shops w/ sponsors and so on because they are big money motors to do the things they do, break the stuff they do, and keep up with it.
So you cant say you didnt give it a shot and I hope to see more come in the future and im sure we will.
