So what happened to the ring, was it not compressed all the way when you we putting the pistons in?

I heard you mentioning the BC pistons have a special design in them, currently I plan on getting a set of 92mm Custom CP's with Swaintech Goldcoat on the top and PC-9 on the piston skirts. I am going to back it up with a set of Manley H-Beam Rods. If the BC design is really better please tell us why and share. Currently my only loyalty to CP and Manley are that I get them at very deep discounts. A friend of mines father owns a very well know (in the NE area) Domestic V8 engine building shop. When they use off the shelf parts for budget builds they always use CP/Manley.

Also what made you choose the "other" valves over the Supertech's?

Please note I am not trying to pick apart your build I am just going to be doing something similar in the future for my project and some of the things you said make me rethink some of my plans.

sorry for the confusion, these are cp pistons. have you ever seen a dome shaped like these? didn't think so. you could do this with any piston brand. the rods are bc. could have saved $$ by reusing my ve rods, but these are just as good or better, and lighter.

thats as good a guess as any. btw, i'm NOT building this motor. i've referred to "my builder" several times so far haven't i? i'm doing the easy stuff like removal/installation/tuning. and working on the chassis, of course. wish i could be there bugging him and learning s$$t along the way, but just don't have the time.

removed the a/c cooling unit finally. the rest of the a/c was removed last yr.

get to this part by removeing the glove box
these 4 screws+2 screws at the bottom

then you'll come to this part. it sits between the fan on your right and the heating unit on your left
its held in by 4 screws

once you remove it, take it to the work bench and open up the 2 halves to remove the cooling unit.


now you remove the cooling unit, then put the 2 plastic halves back together. you want to reinstall the (now empty) plastic housing because the fan draws air in from the right, it blows through the (empty housing) and into the heating section of your hvac system.


thats all there is to losing ~5 pounds of dead weight

Ok they looked like CP's to me but maybe I got confused and thought they were BC's. I am not trusting my stock rods as the Manleys are cheap insurance. I am excited to finish the motor and transmission however I need to finish the rest of the car first. Just really wondering why you did things the way you did. It looks like one of your main concerns is time. Luckily for me I have all time on my side. Deep discounts always make me happy especially if they are quality products too.

I appreciate the input and I am going to stick with my inital plan. Build looks good keep up the good/hard work.
