87mm h/c.
ordered bored ve-t head gasket and 12.5 cp pistons today.

Ok, now I'm really interested! Why did you decide to go 87 instead of 88? Are you worried about the stock sleeves on the larger bore or are you just playing it safe?

safe dude. once the parts get here, i'm gonna have a LONNNGGGG, in-person discussion (with blocks on-hand) with the machine shop.
this will also give me/us the chance to throw the ve-t gasket on the bare 2.0 AND 2.4 block and check'm out. compare 'em to the 92mm maz/pe gasket. maybe the 2.4 will come ALIVE.
but, the HC 2.0+ is now the MAIN concern.

Cool. I hear you on the playing it safe stuff. Well, I have interest in the results for sure, for various reasons.

I think HC 87mm with that fancy-dancy head of yours might = some serious and reliable fun!

I wish you some much deserved luck!

They are, why do you support the vet ones now?? This is another failure case. Another one failed last week, mines fialed. And we were all using your headstuds.. the headgasket is just to Damn expensive..and I bought three from you guys, its a hit and miss with this gasket

You talking about the one that was like 260 or something like that?

I wouldnt say they are garbage. The fact that even if they had just been installed and ran for a very short period of time, they cant be reused because the coating falls off. Cory ran their gasket without really any issues at all. Only time he did have issues was when he tired to reuse it. For those constantly taking the head off it can get expensive so the VET gasket (which is reusable because it doesnt have that coating on it) is becoming the much better option and its seems like its sealing just as well as a properly installed PE gasket.

Again i wouldnt say garbage, i would just say cheaper and more viable option. The PE gasket obviously worked and its what got all these guys into these big bore and/or stroke builds. So might want to watch how you come off saying something.

Garbage? Far from it.

Do you have one??I stand by my word, for the price not worth it in any way, and they said its reusable. I have three hear at 260 a piece....vet gasket for the win any day....

Yes, i have used one and personally watched it seal a 2.2L motor that the sleeves dropped a good .003" or more. It finally blew the gasket but still, it was impressive enough that it sealed that motor from the get go let alone about 500 miles on it.

And yes when we took it apart the gasket coating fell apart as well making it unusable.

Again yes for the price the VET gasket is a no brainer, reusable, and everything. Doesnt make the PE gasket Garbage though. Again its what got everyone into these big motors.

Just because there are better, cheaper options doesnt make something garbage.

Ok, everyone is entitled to their opinion but, I guarantee noone will be buying these gaskets knowing the vet is another option... at a very reasonable price...
