that sucks to hear teal. im doing a high comp build too. power plus reliability equal n/a high comp haha.

and lynch what till you start gernading trannies left and right. i miss my turbo car but not the issues that come with them.

i'm in NO hurry since it's not my daily.
i'm gonna use my spare ve motor to do a relatively cheap HC/kelford 2.0 build. the GOOD STUFF from the 2.4 will be parted out.
at this point i'm just wanting a RELIABLE 210+whp/155+wtq.

This sucks. I am sorry to hear about your luck. There is nothing worse than spending time and money on something that just stares at you from the driveway/garage. I think a HC 2.0 or even a 2.1 is just what the doctor ordered! Good luck with it.

Does this mean you are giving up on big block VE's altogether or are you just taking a break?

unless buds machine shop offers up a deal i can't refuse, this pretty much ends it for me.
i'm looking to "retire" very soon, so i can't justify the expense

talked with buds yesterday
Bud seemed disappointed hearing of my troubles. when i asked him about the pressure testing of the block they did before the latest build up, he said that a pressure test like that done @ room temperature won't always show a failure. but when the motor heats up during use, it can.
he wants me to bring it in so they can figure out WHAT went wrong. (its out of warranty) so i don't know if he'll do it free of charge or not. i'm not about to pay him anything, thats for sure
think i'm gonna press on with the spare motor. notched and coated n1 pistons for ~12.5cr ought to do the trick for 1/2 the price of cp's (if they were available)

some progress
the parts pile grows

here she is, in an all too familiar position...

the 1 coming out..

the 1 getting a freshen up

after MUCH deliberating in my head..
plan A is.. do a little bowl work on the (already worked) 2.4 head then throw that bitch on the stock block 2.0. the 2.0 block will get new rings, bearings, gaskets, bolts and other goodies. i'll swap the nearly new water pump over from the 2.4 also.
