Is this failure also going to be blamed on Snickers?

Snickers has not assembled your engine both times and now two failures. Someone, somewhere, is messing up.

Good luck, I hope you get it sorted out. Maybe it is something minute this time.

i think once you get it dialed in an everything's working in perfect harmony it'll be one bad machine.

kinda funny though how everyone was telling you to add a choke to the header, and now dude says its to much? wouldn't it have been nice to know that before having it modded?

Referring to me?

Never told him to add a choke. All I can do is give my opinion and people can take the bits and pieces they want to listen to.

after one of the pulls when the engine came back down to idle, a really bad hunting idle, i heard a metallic TINNGGG come from the valvetrain area. i immediately shut her down. on restart she ran OK with no more noises. i called it quits at that time and pulled her off the rack. i was able to drive the 50 miles or so home staying on the small lobes the whole time. it seemed to run OK. next week i'll scope the combustion chambers for evidence of piston to valve contact.
after talking to the owner of buds machine shop today, he
assured me the builder took extreme care in the assembly of the motor (don't they all?) he also suggested i bring the head in to get checked out

the saga continues

And there goes another 260 on a headgasket when ya pull the head off, smh. Get a bored vet next time

what it come down to is there are way to many people out there who have no idea how to build/setup Import engines let alone a 2.4ve. i would hesitate to go to any shop who hasnt built at least a big bore ve with my engine. most of the people who post stuff in this thread have never built a 2.3-2.4 ve and really should not be trying to give out "help full" info on how to set it up. any time some thing is as new as our 2.4's there is going to be a big learning curve. go look at the amount of time and money it has taken other companies or people to build performance engines that they just cant copy from some one else. its not cheap. i really do feel bad for teal, stratton, Re-spect and Jamie who have spent a shit ton of money on their setups to only end in weak performance or complete failure.

Just read this entire thread. AND I am so glad that I decided to stay 2.0 and go with N1 pistons.

Best of luck to you Mr Rick, I hope you get it sorted out
