No centerline change. Rocco is using the same part # cam.

thats a Q i'll be asking him, face to face. like "how did you check for piston to valve clearence"?

through testing cams and headers on the 2.0 ve with turbofreak,
i've found it helps smoothen the the power curve. been doing it this way since day 1.

advice taken.

2.You have a stroker crank now, the entire powerband will come on earlier. You are switching the cams at 6,000+ RPM and the exhaust after that. The motor will peak way before 8000RPM so you are killing yourself.

that was a starting point. presently @ 4300/4700. we gained alot in the low end by switching earlier. the powerband still dips/drops once the exh cam hits.

3.The choke on the header now is doing more harm than good. The last merge on the 2-1 will act as a choke on a header that is already restricted by radical bends. The original header form would have done better for you.

wellll

man, did i screw up the quotes!

after one of the pulls when the engine came back down to idle, a really bad hunting idle, i heard a metallic TINNGGG come from the valvetrain area. i immediately shut her down. on restart she ran OK with no more noises. i called it quits at that time and pulled her off the rack. i was able to drive the 50 miles or so home staying on the small lobes the whole time. it seemed to run OK. next week i'll scope the combustion chambers for evidence of piston to valve contact.
after talking to the owner of buds machine shop today, he
assured me the builder took extreme care in the assembly of the motor (don't they all?) he also suggested i bring the head in to get checked out

the saga continues

you know how much i love the big ve's man, but really it seems like a huge pain in the ass and a money pit..

i think once you get it dialed in an everything's working in perfect harmony it'll be one bad machine.

kinda funny though how everyone was telling you to add a choke to the header, and now dude says its to much? wouldn't it have been nice to know that before having it modded?

considering it has equal or more whp than a typical fully bolted 2.0 ve on N1's and a helluva lot more wtq (all on the small lobes) it was a blast to drive. the header is the least of my worries right now. i'll no more Monday when i get to work on it. hell, i might even bolt up the ssac for giggles later on just for a comparo. but 1st things 1st.
