How many miles does one recommend before retorquing the head bolts?

OP: Did you run any heat cycles with the radiator cap off at first crank before the cooling system pressurized?

i asked owner of the machine shop this question today. he said its not required. but knowing that we had problems with the h/g sealing, its not a bad idea. then said if i decided to do it, do it after only 2 or 3 heat cycles.

no. i filled the radiator and installed the cap. also filled the overflow bottle to the cold full line. then i started the motor and opened the bleeder screw till water came out then closed it. i drove it ~4 miles today to get the alignment and it stayed right ~ 175*. its not a dd so i'll do the system bleed as per the fsm next week.

no. thats a really good oil but its not recommended for street driven cars. probably cuz there's not enough detergents and/or dispersants to keep the motor clean when doing 3-5k oci.

got the header flange welded up and took the car for a short spin down the f-way. after driving the forte for the last 4 months i had forgotten how LOUD this bitch is. not really from behind the car, inside! i couldn't hear myself think! it is UNACCEPTABLE. the exhaust system presently consists of the supercowboy header>3" collector>3" dynomax high flow cat>3" dia. 24" (18" body) dynomax straight through resonator>3" piping>3" in/out vibrant stealth muffler.
its an old resonator so maybe i should start with that? i'd like to save downsizing to a 2.5" system as a last resort.
the car has other running/driveability issues (stalling when i push the clutch in coming to a stop). even though the idle speed is 13-1400 rpm. the power is definitely there...but there is still work to be done to make the car more enjoyable to drive....more to come.

Vibrant mufflers are much quieter the magnaflow, if i had to choose again for my car i'd get a vibrant.. i am however happy with the huge magnaflow glass pack though, it really makes sure theres no bee's

oh as for the stalling, most likely just need to slap it in timing mode and adjust the timing/idle an all that business..
