^Not sure if you are being sarcastic -_-, but I read that on here. I know they/or you if you are affiliated Maz usually sticks to RWD, but I heard mentionings that they might be building either a 2.3L or 2.4L in a FWD car. Anyway I know they did a 6 speed install on a VE and posted a VID, so I wouldn't doubt it.

I know they are building a 2.4L turbo build for their new s15 drag car since they sold the green one. Cant wait.

I guess I should have referenced FWD to distinguish the two in my original post, but I'm just saying.

I thought they were doing a 2.4L in a Gti-R....

The new S15 drag car's motor is still up in the air. Probably a 89x91

The GTi-R is a 2.32L right now.

Back onto topic for the OP

that pretty much says it all right there.

they dont even trust the design wiether it be the block or headgasket at that size or level.

I dont get how they dont? Thier drag car is going to be a 1000+whp car. At 92mm bore you dont leave much of the sleeve left. Definitely not for 1000+whp. lol. Same with headgasket sealing area. Not much is left. For n/a and maybe some nitrous. No reason a 92mm bore shouldnt last. But not for an insanely boosted motor.

Is that meant towards us? If so here's the reply, if not just ignore it.

The reason why we havent decided on the bore, because at that power level it doesnt really matter if its 89 or 90. We only may go 89 on it because we can machine it over if we needed to later on. High horsepower methanol engines take a lot of abuse and we also use a different piston to wall clearance than standard engines. After time the cylinders "egg" so we want to have enough room to be able to bore or hone if needed.

There are no problems with the gasket, as we've shown before on the old motor at 90x86 making around 1300whp. We've re-use them tons of times without any issues. Ran a history and we've only ever used 4 gaskets on the green S15. That block was also not o-ringed.

Oh yea, also we built a few 2.4L using that gasket, and they've never had any issues that we've heard of. One of them is on this forum.

update..
so today i ordered up some hardware that will HAVE to be replaced. oem rod bolts, main bolts, head bolts, flywheel bolts, pressure plate bolts and 1 ea cross member bolt. all from gregv. oh, and that pretty blue sr16 ve v/c i've wanted for yrs.
and a BIG pe headgasket from mazworx. (keeping my fingers crossed i'll get to use it)
tomorrow i'll remove the head. pix will be provided. i found a machine shop in Lakewood, Wa that seems they know whats up with sr20's. they'll be tearing down the block and checking the condition/clearances.
worst case scenario... i have a dropped (Benson) sleeved block that becomes the most expen$ive table base in the house (a la Top Gear :rofl

Well it was and wasnt directed towards you

I do see why ud do 90 on a meth or alch motor. A friend of mine is building a 90 alch motor also and he has the same reason for doing so as you.

As far as reusing the gaskets I dont know of one person who has managed to get a used gasket to reseal 100%.

One out of many isnt a good number to bet on.

I would like to see you guys build an all out all motor 2.4 ve and show us what we are all doing wrong.

If and or that does ever happen id have a check with ur name on it.

Until that day ill view it as not a feasible set up.

2 out of the 12 big bore big stroke motors are still kicking. I do know many of them have gone threw your hands. But I do know of a few that have and have dropped sleeves.

I hope you guys can show us what you can do.

Im sure I dont speak for myself when I said were waiting with cash in hand.

Good luck with your current builds and keep in mind what ive said in the future.

Stratton.
