Use the stock SR20VE cams. SR16VE cams are to wild for turbo. If you use them peak HP will be in the 9000-9500 RPMs. That is not good for a car you drive daily.

This is ture or you can use 20V or VET cams but I would get some S&Rs for sure. I like the supertech ones more then BC do to the fact that the supertechs are much stiffer.

I would run an N1 mani because it does make an power increase on turbo but not NA. You can go with an O2 induction one and make even more power.

I wounldn't even port it enless you plan to rev it out to like 8500 or are going for like 600hp. The stock port is fine, the only thing I have have done it to have the port just cleaned up just a little.

Well the reason why I decided to go with the VE head, (Thanks Nate), is because apparently even serious port work on a Highport head will not flow as much as a stock VE head, or a VE head with mild portwork. The head will be fully built with supertech valves, springs and retainers. The shop swears by Supertech's products. Stock cams would be fine, but I'm still interested in some aftermarket cams. I hear Kelford is really stepping up their game and they've got some damn good grinds out now, wonder if they're as good for the VE head?

I am still workin g on mine ....I am sending my spare DET block out to Mark at mazworks for sleeving and new CP pistons in the VE style , as soon as I get my other set of rods in ( should be here today ) and I get another oil pump , I have a O2 induction intake manifold , and I intend to run the stock SR20ve cams ....inless Greg has some 20v cams instock , I have not asked him yet but I figure that will be phase 2 as I intend to have the head built next year , but for now the supertech springs are for sale by mazworks so those are probaly your best option , and as for the GT3076r being to small .....I am sure I will know soon enough , Miko in a past post said the GT30r with a sleeved 90mm bore with a VE head should be all most lag less , so we will soon see as that is what I intend to run ....

why use a DET block? it would be easier using a VE block and you have the oil grooved main bearing. also, it would be easier to get parts. like the oil pans, they're the same as the RR engine.

Thats what I was told by Miko.

Anyways I am not against the head swap but you may want to get some more track time before spending more money if you plan to run against Honda guys(or any serious drag racers). I am saying this with respect; you are not driving your current setup anywhere near potential.

Just goto a test and tune every weekend if time permits, so as to get everything squared away. Maybe I am stating the obvious, and you already have plans to go back to the track. If this is the case, ignore what i just said.

because I do not have a Ve block ....and the head is alredy modded for the swap ...I thought of buying another block but I figured I would use what I have ....I would have to un mod the head and then find a ve block ..so this just seems easier.....I have the motor in the car the one on the stand with wesico pistons eagle rods , ACL bearings , and all and I have torn dorn det that got water in the cylinders on the drive from WA. it rained and I did not have it as coverd as I thought ....so I borscoped it and there was some rust in the walls when I got it unloaded so I tore it down ...

And try to explain to your wife why you need another engine !!!

I'm going to the track every weekend, until I get my slicks. My goal is to attempt to take plastic tires and get decent 60' times, and TRY to hang on to traction as much as possible. I really REALLY really hate concrete tracks that aren't prepped. I can hook like no tomorrow on asphalt, just can't do it on the track I'm on. We'll see what happens Friday. I'm going to baby her until 3rd instead of the top of second.
