Went to the dyno last night, tell me what you think
Made some mods to the car and went tuning last night

Im a little dissapointed with what i did, sure it gained 10kw ish up top in the last 1000rpm, but lost about 65nm (atw) in the mid range. When i drive it it feels like it really climbs up onto the cam at high revs because of the hole in the power down low. :?

So im trying to work out whether its worth that much power up in the rev range, that cant really be used on the street all the time, vs the loss of the mid range punch.

On this dyno, the previous setup had 100nm more mid range than most other tweaked VE engines, and i think i may seriously miss this.

Let me know what you think.

Why can't you have the best of both worlds? What are you tuning with?

I did the conversion to hp and it came up to 207whp.
Those would great numbers for regular VE but you have a 20V right?

how did you get that number.

135Kw does not equal 207 WHP.

Anyway when you are draging a car the HP curve you have now will be way faster than the previous one.

If this was all done by tuning you should be able to get the mid section you want and the top section you want since its all timing and fuel you are messing with.

You keep the first curve as far as fuel and timing goes and you start to ease into the new timing and fuel curve.

What RPM are you taking this car up to. Is it possible to have this dyno transfered over to to one that read RPMs. Will be a little more informative.

Oh my bad the #'s on the dyno sheet are small, I thought it was 155Kw.

Evlnxr, what cams do you have in the car?

OK, i was being a bit vauge sorry.

Ive put Franklin stage 4's in. The red line was the 20v cams with 20v headers and 3" dump pipe.

Unfortunatly i didnt get a chance to dyno with the new headers before putting the new cams in, but it didnt feel like it lost any mid range with the headers, but def lost some with the cams.

The tuning is spot on, we road tuned it before the dyno with a data logger monitoring afr, and got that pretty good. Moved a few figures around on the dyno to see what difference it made and only every made things worse (ie adding and removing timing, adding and removing fuel, changing the cam switchover points).

I need to dial the cams and make sure they are correct 1st, then either try the 20v header again and dyno it, to give a accurate idea what the cams are doing for power, or put the 20v's back in and dyno to give an idea on the headers im using are causing the problem.

Ive got a data logger on my traction control that can log speed, so can do runs and overlay them to compare data, save on dyno time initially.

I will maybe try and advance the intake one tooth on the chain, as the 20v is smaller chain, not sure on how many degrees that will be until i get the cover off and count the teeth tho.

This is a rolling road dyno, and 134wkw is the best a VE motor has ever put down on it. Tweaked b18c type R's with headers and tuning make around 122kw atw on this dyno.

Absolutely, that's a good figure, for this dyno!

Considering that my 'MSM "Special"' (insert Tui add banner here) built motor with the stage 4's and 'Tuned' (refer to the Tui add again) got LESS than your original figures I wouldn't be too worried.

In fact IF my 'race specced motor' (Tui add) had these figures I would have never let it go.

Just find the mid-range back; some how?
