i am thinking to buy a ve and boost it. i know i will need pistons aand rods. i went looking at cp pistons but i see they have different bore. could someone explain how to choose the pistons i need. i am looking to make about 400-450hp. i see a set of eagle rods and cp pistons for 800. is that a deal. where is a good place to buy them?

You said you say a set of CP pistons and eagle rods somewhere for $800 and asked where is a good place to buy them. Being that you have found these parts and that price I would say where you have found them is a great place to buy them.

The larger you go on the bore the larger the motor. A motor is like an air pump which means the larger it gets the more air it moves which inturn means the more HP you will make

Before you go out and start buying stuff you need to know what HP level will make you happy. You stated 400-450 WHP will be good enough for you so there is no need to get more than the 86mm stock bore.

A VE with 86mm forged stock bore pistons, forged rods with stock crank will make 460-500 WHP at 20 PSI with the right turbo. That being a GT30R or GT35R turbo.

Headbolts ARP new design $150

Thats all you will need to build this motor.
