Start up problems
1.When I first did my swap over a year ago the car would start up on the first or second crank. Now it almost starts then dies. So I have to give it a little gas and it will roughly start up. This has been happening for about a month. But the major problem is when my interior is hot from the car sitting in the hot az sun the car will not even crank or click the starter!

2.So today it would not engage the starter, I keep trying it and the engine almost starts then dies. I ended up push starting it and it died as soon as I put it back in nuetral. I push started it again and gased it to keep the rpms up around 4k and made sure never to let my foot off the gas when I left untill the engine warmed up and it was fine. This problem has been around off and on since this summer and last years summer. It only happens when my interior is hot. I think it might be the ECU or a starter switch or something like that.

My first problem does not appear to be heat related since it does this every time.

What the hell is going on here? This is driving me nuts!!!

Possibly, your vacuum house under the air intake is pinched or cracked and thus not enabling the idle. However, your iac valve doesn't seem to be working if your car only idles when warm.

It idles fine if it will start. Oh and problem number one is only when the engine is cold so I guess both problems are heat related lol. If the engine if still warm it starts right up just like it used to on the first or second crank. I'll check the hoses though.

It did it again today when I was trying to leave work. This time it would'nt even try to turn the starter no matter how many times I turned the key. I had to push start it again! I have no problems in the morning when the car is nice and cool. WTF is up this realy makes me mad!

It did it again today! This time I rolled the widows down one hour before I left work. The car was much cooler than then on tues, and wednesday. But it was still to hot and it did nothing when I turned the key I kept at it and it and wiggled the key and finally turned the engine over and it was turning over realy fast! But the engine was struggling to start it would only barely fire a cylinder or two but not even close to enough power to start the engine.

So I try turning the key again and it does nothing I tried wiggling it again and nothing. So I guess wiggling the key while turning does nothing. It must have been a fluke the first time. I had to push start it again. This is the third day in a row! Every morning I have no problems except that I have to gas it a little to start but the starter works great in the mornings. Whats going on with my car? It's a b13 se-r btw.

Where did I say I have an idle problem? I have a starting problem! When I finally do start the car it idles fine, no problem there.

It runs fine when it is started? What kind of compression results do you have? Also try some starting fluid and see if that helps it start. That will help determine if it is fuel related or not.

205psi-213psi. I will try starting fluid to see if it start more smoothly. I also have a stock DE ECU i'm going to try.

I found a code on my calum basic ve ecu, code 11= crank angle sensor thats in the b13 dizzy. I have two VE distributors that I can use right after I find the wiring thread. I think thats reason it misses upon startup but obviously not the reason I dont get power to the starter when its hot outside.

I installed the stock ve distributor and it fired up with no hesitation first try. That does'nt mean its fixed though, because I know when the car gets hot again I know it wont start. But we'll see.

At least I fixed the minor problem so far.
