Is it worth adding springs ???
I was am trying to figure out some alternitves to waiting for these JWT VE cams ....I was wondering is it worth running springs on SR20ve stock cams and reving the motor higher or not and also can you is it posible to run SR16ve cams with a standard Wesico 8.5 to 1 piston for a det , with out valve cut outs ?? and would it be benifital to do so on a DET+VE head with a tubular manifold and GT3076r with an .82 housing ...or should I try to comby some VET cams next ,

1. No point in revving stock cams that high

2. With 16ve cams the valves WILL touch with de/det pistons without notches made.

3. The stock cams will do just fine with a turbo, no need to spend the money on VET cams IMO unless you just have the money to throw around.

1. I would put s&rs in and rev to about or where ever it stops making power. Manny made power to 7400 and the powerband was still rising with a SC61 with a .63 a/r.

2. Above is right and you would really have to rev the motor to get anything out of your turbo.

3. If you have money to throw around buy 20v cams.

4. Don't sit around and wait for JWT, throw the stock cams in and ride out.

I'd say you would need the springs. Check out one of Charles dyno graph, SR16 cams, T67 stock bore SR20VE-T.

That is a much bigger turbo then what he is running but you the idea that if you want to make power on less boost you will have to rev the motor. That dyno was on like 14-15psi if IIRC.

Yeah 15 psi I think. Still good for only 15psi which is crazy.

yeah it is. I will see what a 35r and 9500 can do on 16 psi.

Nissan crazy I bet you could make mid 400s with ur set up reving to like 8500 on pump gas no problem if you have a standalone or just rev to 8k with a calum.

Some people get away with it other dont. like me I tried to go to 8k on stock springs when I 1st got my setup. I did bend 2 valves but not bad enough for the motor not to run. 8k on stock cams = springs for sure.
