You guys might be right abaout the cam actually being the beginning point.... hmmmmm

1: You are right... my wife would say the same.... - but I need something "not standard" I think.... I can't stop wanting to do something to my engine, as long as it can get better.
Anyway I also has this idea in my head that as long as you don't open an engine, then it will just keep and keeep and keep running. But then again, it was original Nissan SR16VE cams that might be the rason my engine is blown.
2: around 15.000 miles
3: Wheel spin launch. (Normally I never do that, but we were just playing around)
4: very conservative cam settings, EFI engine system, single racing springs and Ti retatiner (have dual springs on the shelf, but need retainers for dual springs), ARIAS pistons, eagle rods, Nismo bearings
5: BigTom have assembled everything else than the cam. That I have installed myself. (I am technically competent or what you would call it)

I ask because i doubt an open valve can bend a rod...the way the piston was eaten i would first say lack of oil. Since you drove the motor for so long the way it was i doubt it would have been the tune. But i don't think you could have destoryed that piston just from 1 launch with wheel spin.

With the amount of metal that is distributed throughout that block i wouldn't trust it anymore.

I am sure Greg V can get you what you need to build another one but for the sake of just being able to drive the car I would say buy a stock 20ve and drive while you build something scary fast.

i think it looks like the cam has snapped from the piston hitting the valve.

looks like the piston has come flying off the wrist pin and hit the open valve, which in turn has snapped the cam from the force.

but god knows how or why the wrist pin snapped, but it would also explain your bent rod, as the wrist pin would snap before the rod will in most cases.

So are you saying that you were bouncing off the rev limiter when this happened?

Drop kick that VE and go BB not GTI-R, GTI-Rs are moody SOBs, unless you switch to a different single TB intake manifold, I should know I have two lol

yeah looks like if failed at the wrist pin, pretty good damage and your lucky the rod didnt tear through your cylinder wall like mine did, haha but im sure it got pretty scarred from the rod, mine was worst case, again thats why the thread i started was called King of Carnage, haha. but yeah ive seen a couple peoples cams snap in half from that kind of stuff happening, i mean if the cam can spin because the valve locked then thats what happens.

On highport motors the rockers usually just shatter before the cam breaks. Luckily too or my S4's would have been toast in the motor i destoryed when the piston hit the valve after the rocker arm threw and lodged my exhaust vavle open. haha. But good luck on any future plans for the car. It definetly sucks, especially since mine was only built for about 1400 miles, it bites. Stupid lifter cause my problem.
