Shamless plug VE from me. $1400
MSD RPM activated Switch $100
Calum ECU $110 ( Quick turn around and works great )
JWT Pop Filter $125
95-98 Maxima MAF $100
SSAC Header $140 ( Get this from Ebay )
2.5-3 in Cat back $400
Solid engine mounts $60

Thats all you need to make a great running car.

When you get caught back up on the money side get some
N1 cams $650
JWT cam gears $150 set at +2.5, -2.5

That is a solid 200WHP car that will run 13.5 at 102 MPH with no problem

What's a Shamless plug VE?
I got the MSD, From Murray's,[extra $20:o]
I'm running a stock DE [1991] ECU
I need a pop-filter.
I'll get the Map later.
I can't find SSAC header on ebay.
3 inch cat back in the future, currently on open header(s) =/
Stock motor mounts
Stock Clutch, ACT HD/PP in the future
Stock sr20ve flywheel.

Damien, I am running an EMS in my car and I will personally agree with Dre on this statement. Unless you are running a built more for some serious power, an EMS is just not feasible.

X2

I also run a EMS on my car. I went this route because I knew I was going to change my car around and I just wanted to make sure I was covered with no issues on the tuning side.

A Calum ECU is the way to go. I al love the real time ECU he offers. Works great.

Thanks guys for your help. So with the Calum ECU is there really any need for the SAFC 2 unless u are going biggier injectors

You really do not need it. I for like them as it will allow you to mess with the fuel curve a little bit and it can help to smoothen it out for a few more hp's.

Andreas, question for you. Will your VE come with the tranny as well? Because I'm running autotragic, so I'll need to swap that out as well when the time comes.

VE motors are Automatic-CVT. If you want a 5 speed tranny it will be $400 more.

I have done some searching on both forums but I cannot seem to locate a good stock vs. sr16ve vs N1 cam comparo (especially the 16ve cams vs the N1s). If someone knows of a thread that talks about this, please point me to it! If not, can someone please explain the differences between these cams? I know the N1's make more power, like to live higher up in the rev band (springs and retainers recommended) and cost more. What about the daily driving aspects of these cams? Are the N1's lumpy (idle-wise)? Poor fuel economy? No torque until you hit 6krpm? I know the details can vary based on specific applications, but what are the general trends? Is the only downside of the N1s vs the sr16ve cams that they cost more? Are the 16ve's something that are better in everyday driving while the N1s shine at the track?

you do realize these are factory driven street cams.

N1 has more midrange and top end.

There is no lump idle.

N1 small lobe is the same as the standard SR20VE small lobe.

There are no negatives only positives.
