Thread: VE issue

Guys my car is idling like crap, reminds me of when an intercooler pipe would pop off on my turbo g20. It seems there is a whistle coming from the intake manifold but I cannot locate from where, do you guys know if there is a hose or anything or some type of valve behind the intake manifold? Its bugging the crap out of me, other than that, the car runs like a champ. The car idles 500rpm higher sometimes after putting it in neutral for a couple of seconds and then it gets rough again. Please advise.

Kevin by a can of Carb Clean and spray it all around the intake manifold and vaccum lines. If the idle goes up then you found your leak.

I had a leak that I was able to hear up in the intake manifold that was also causing a bad idle. Turned out to be a broken IACV gasket. Replaced it and made a HUGE difference.

Probably what it is, I cannot find anything that seems to be bad. Where did you buy the gasket?

Remove it first and make sure that's the problem before you go through the trouble of ordering it.

If its cheap enough ill order it. I havent had the time to do a thorough check of the car. Ill be popping the intake arm off and a couple of things to double check, but it seems the noise is coming from the intake manifold, very close to my ear, like behind it or something, but then im not sure. First it was a whistle, now its a full blown shhhhhhhh noise like air escaping a tire when the car is on. The car runs good other than that. I know its something simple, just a little baby vacuum leak. Thanks for the advice.

Definitely sounds like the same exact issue I had. When I would stick my hand behind the IACV, you could feel the air coming out!
