now i know that the crank isnt necessary in the 2.3/2.4 builds anymore as its been discussed/proven, but would there still be any benefits to get one? just curious.

Its needed in the 2.4 builds but not the 2.3 anymore. Benifits would be more displacement and power.

I really like this thread... Man Andreas is always putting us in a new direction. Andre when are you going to put the motor in blue?? I thought I saw a thread saying you were doing it sometime soon.

I tried to read it all, and im sure I might get flamed (as it says it fits all SR20)
but im one for triple checking - its a 92mm HG that will fit the stock bore as well?? Im curious how that works....

Thank you for answering without biting my head off over the internet.

It can fit a smaller bore than 92mm but not a larger bore than 92mm because the largerst the hole is is 92mm.

If you are going to run a 86mm bore it makes no sense to run a larger headgasket. The factory 20V steel headgasket is good enough

20V steel headgasket $90

92mm Steel Mazworx headgasket $250

I have had a few people ask me about head studs and main studs. For the 2.3-2.4 L VE motors you dont need anything more than new stock NISSAN head bolts and main main bolts. The stock NISSAN parts are good for 450 WHP, so you 250-300 WHP at 200 LB FT Torque will be no problem.

when putting any SR engine back together, do you recommend new OE bolts? or to reuse the ones you had?? or is it a case-by-case evaluation you need to do??

if you recommend replacing them every time, how much are OE bolts, and is it maybe worth it to upgrade to the stronger bolts if you're replacing them - "just in case"??

I usually will reuse the stock bolts one time. I believe even the FSM states something about that. They can only be reused one time.
