so do you guys think running the stock intake mani, ssac, an 2.5" exhaust would Hurt the motor? i dont mean like hurt the power, i mean actualy cause excessive wear or something to break?

if i do this, i would have to run what i got for a year or so till i could get a 4-1 an bigger exhaust.. figured i'd try portin the intake my self, i know a few old guys that will give me some tips an stuff

It will make more power with stuff thats on Corys car but with parts listed I am sure the 2.3L would still make it to 235-240 WHP.

If somebody is planning on running a SSAC header on these 2.285L+ motors, I personally would not even build one. You would be better off getting some SR16VE N1 pistons and going that route. When I build one of these, I'm going Manley rods, 12:5.1, 92mm pistons, and some kind of aftermarket intake manifold. I can't see no other way. I might try out my 4-2-1 budget header to see how it likes the motor if I still have it by then. 4-1 will probably be in the mix as well. My main concern is going from my current $600 2.5" exhaust sytem to a 3" exhaust system. How much would I be missing out on staying at 2.5" with one of these motors?

I think when your going up in displacement its pretty basic. Let's say you have a 190whp ve. And you go 92mm. As long as your intake can flow enough air to keep up as well as it did with the 2.0, you should make right around 225-230whp. That's with all things being equal. Then if you take into consideration the cr increase that's another ~7 to 10whp. So yeah it really depends on what bolt ons and what kind of power your making to begin with. 240whp should be about right for a mostly stock top end with n1s

As long as the intake can keep up with the desplacment it should be power per liter times 2.3 will b very close.

lol bro, ya gotta read all of what i said

i have no intentions on runnin an ssac ect. for more then a year or so.. my project is always evloving, just one step at a time..

i mean sure i could go buy the 4-1 header an intake mani this year an make a few more hp maybe.. or i could do a 2.3 this year an make much more hp an just get the header an intake an exhaust next year..

i just dont have the funds to do it all at once

- My comment was not directed towards anybody. General statement. That's why I said I 'personally'. $100-150 header vs a $1000+ header is a big difference. Some guys will talk themselves out of paying that difference of a price for 5-10WHP. Guys PM me all the time on both forums about my header comparison pic in my build thread asking me if it's worth it.

ahh i see, ok.. i agree anyone building a 2.3ve shouldnt use a ssac any longer then needed.. kinda defeats the purpose lol.

in my case it gives me room to grow
