Which cams?
As of right now, I have a 93.5 p10 with a U12 motor. I was pondering the idea of putting a sr16ve head on the U12 bottom end and keeping the turbo components. My question is, will the stock sr16 cams be fine or would I need to install sr20ve cams as I heard something about the possibility of the valves hitting the pistons? Also, if the sr16 cams are fine, what about n1 cams or better yet, what's the biggest cams to run on that bottom end safely? I appreciate any info, so thanks in advance.

The stock SR16VE cams are a no no. Find someone with some standard SR20VE cams and trade with him.

Or sell them for $300 and buy some SR20VE ones for $150. I have a set of the ones you need.

Most common, people tend to run the stock SR20VE cams(Need cam gears to work out overlap). You could get away with running 16VE cames with a big turbo and dial out the overlap again. As far as N1 cams and turbo. Not gonna happen IMO.

Can I run any of the mentioned cams with different piston...I remember reading something about valve relief knoches on the top of the pistons?
If my plans eventually fall into place, I was planning on upgrading the stock t25 to a gt2871r and aftermarket stainless tubular gtir manifold + proper injectors for this set up.
I might have found a sr16ve for cheap, that's why I was trying to find out what the options are. Andreas, thanks for the info and anything else on this topic.

I would run some adjustable cam gears, but how big of a turbo are you talking about?

Any other info on different pistons vs. all the different cams and maybe thicker head gasket?

No more info. You got it all.

SR20VE cams on DET bottom end.

SR16VE cams will need pistons with notches in them, you will need cam gears to take out alot of over lap and you will need a big turbo and 9000 plus RPMs.

No other cam will work, well maybe SR20VET cams but not worth the effort.

ok, cool. I thought it would be a little more in depth, but this is pretty straight forward. What about the thicker head gasket thing, I thought I might have heard about? Sorry if these seem like noob questions, but I did as much reading as I could find.
