pulley question
will the UR SR20DE crank pulley bolt onto the sr20ve with no problems? i've considered the ve pulley set from greg v, but i'm on a tight budget with my first sr20ve project. so its either i use the stock sr20ve crank pulley or the UR DE crank.

I'm using the de UR crank and wp pulleys. The crank pulley sits a little farther away from the motor because the VE oil pump spacer is longer than the DE, so the belts are missaligned a bit and will be noisy but not too bad. The water pump pulley fits fine. I have had the UR pulleys on my VE ever since I put it in two years ago and I have not had any problems.

I have had a stock VE pulley sitting in my room for a while now, I was going to pull my UR pulley off and take it and the stock VE pulley to a machine shop and have them take a little bit of material off the inside of my UR pulley so it sits closer to the motor, i just keep putting it off.

Top - VE spacer
Bottom - DE spacer

now when you say misaligned, how do you exactly mean? does the ribs match up fine, are the belts crooked, and have you ever experienced premature belt wear with that setup? it sounds really interesting to me and i might just do it, maybe shave a little material before installing the ur de pulley onto my ve.

also, can you manually remove the spacers from the pulleys?

ive got the de ur pulley on my ve and it is fine. he means the ribs are off by about 2 ribs, but the belt still seats fine and mine doesnt make any noise. ive got gatorback belts. also the spacer goes in behind the pulley so it just slides out.

Greg told me that if you are running the UR set for a DE, the crank pulley will need the DE spacer. That is what I plan on running on my VE (DE pulleys with DE spacer). he basically said to match the pulley with the spacer, that's all.

I don't know about that. I tried that and it didn't work, that's why I had both of those spacers out to take that picture a while back. I put the de spacer in there and it went farther in than the oil pump drive or whatever it's called. So when I tightened the crank pulley, the pulley was not tightened against the spacer. So when I turned the motor over, you could hear the spacer banging back and forth from where it touches the crankshaft, to where it "should" be touching the crank pulley.
