I'd bet its everyone whose got cobbled-together VEs, running mismatched ECU/MAF/AFC and whatever OBX header they can dig up.

I have intake, Fuji VE header, and JWT ecu, and I've beaten M3s, S2000s and 350Zs at the 1/8th strip.

Very true, They might even have the stock DE header,

which can be estimated at 133whp

so yea a Modded DE can beat a under stock VE

I've driven several DE's and my VE, while choked up still feels better than any of them, even those with more mods. I've even had their owners tell me that the VE feels as if it just has more power everwhere.

My Setup:
DE airbox
DE MAF
SSAC 2.5 header
test pipe
stock exhaust
calum RT (untuned).

I know that it's not the optimal setup and can feel that it's choked, but it's by no means slow.

Plus, maybe it was just the camera's inability to cope with sound, but the camera car sounds as if it's cutting out or struggling at the beginning. To be honest a bolt-on DE shouldn't have left a VE car like that. Not if both are running well.

And just to clarify, I'm not bashing the potential of the DE, a nicely cammed DE could give a lightly modded VE a run for it's money.

As for the video, rolling start...street race...end of story.

I realize this post is pointless, but that ve sounds terrible and it accelerates terribly as well. I agree it also sounds like it is shuddering under lower rpms. Maybe a vvl with the vvl not activating?? It does not sound good at all up top...who knows.

Just seeing how long it takes them to get out of 3rd, theres no way my internally stock VE would lose to that.

That VE could not have been running right, as they were definately running the cars. The amount of tq created by the built DE in the midrange would simply be outclassed by a stock VE.

I was at the track the other day (lapping), and a friend with a lightly modded S2000 (mostly suspension) followed me for a few laps. I had to lift the throttle to let him by because I was accelerating as fast as he was, but he was obviously faster in the twisties (only passing on the straigths was allowed in that session). He was surprised of that himself. He was gaining no ground on me during accelleration.

I would never have dreamed of being in that situation with the DE. He would have just blown my doors off. I know this from experience with the DE in the same car on the same track.

Current setup:
-Stock VE
-B14 JWT ECU
-VE MAF & injectors
-SSAC 2" header (see, I'm even bottlenecked; I have a 2.5" one in the garage waiting to be installed)
-Stock intake tube with pop charger

with that vid the DE doesn't seem to be carrying a passenger to that alone could account or the advantage...
