just WOW. So in theory, since a VE and K20 are always being compared as similar, a DE should have a upper hand over a K20 as well?

My VE would kill my DE anyday. Even if I limited the VE to no VVL

I don't think it is possible that the ve is out powered by a similarly outfitted ve. It just doesn't make sense. "Numbers never lie" So look at them. If you go around and source de and ve dyno graphs the ve's almost always have a higher and flatter torque curve. My ve feels like it has allot more low end then my de ever did, and my de was in pretty good shape. I also think there is a serious lack of good tunes around for the ve with all of the variations in cams and mafs people are running. I hope to squeeze a lot more power and driveablility out of my ve when I can find a dyno shop up here .

My stock sr20ve with no VVL activation was beating sr20de's when i first did the swap.

You fella's are over looking the main point in this thread. With that being said, Of

course a VE will make more POWER than a DE. This thread was started in the

concept of saying VE vs DE on the street in a car.... Which means now you

have to put into account power vs weight. Power doesn't mean Sh*t if you

have a 10,000 lb car. So you still a 200whp VE in a 3k car per say and you

stick it up against lets even say a 130whp DE in a 2200 lb sentra. The de will

win everytime. So this thread could go on and on and on if you are gonna sit

here and try to compare VE vs DE rather than VE vs DE in power to weight

ratio in a car. I hope all you guys reading this that is saying " My VE will

smoke any DE any day" please keep in mind about what I'm trying to say here.

Umm.....he was talking about lower power DE's having the edge on the roads better than VEs, and from my experience I agree with him..so if you dont get the point of my post...I was trying to find out the anwers also.

I was comparing a DE'd b13 and a VE'd b13.

I think you need to reread MY post. you read MY post wrong.

point being.... this thread was about b13's that weigh the same

the rest however doesn't make sense, except that u have a stock ve vs a built de

my guess would be that the de just has more torque around corners .... sides that i donno maybe the ve isn't making the power it should for some reason, but the power difference between a ve and de should be night and day

I have similar story.

My N14 Sunny 2.0 GTi with S4 cams, WAI, Calum ECU..little weight reduce. Stock header, cat, exhaust.. on semislicks. 160-170ps at the flywheel i guess.
My friend´s DC2 Integra Type-R with catback, CAI, little weight reduce. Power around 200ps at the flywheel. On slicks.

We were run five 1/4 pass and i beat him 4 times.. times very very close, no more than 0,1sec. difference..

So.. with the SR20VE it can be the same..

I think some fo you guys are really missing the point. The area under the curve and the time it takes to reach peak hp is more important than the numbers themselves. This is where the cammed out DE's are getting their edge from.

Take a stock cam DE and a DE with aftermarket cams. The aftermarket one may only make around 10whp more peak, but the way it revs and the way the power curve is moved makes it alot quicker than the stock cammed DE.

Do a search for some ve vs de vid on you tube. Often you can't tell which is which...

Ultimately I'm still a ve guy as I think they have more potential in the end. But this thread focusses on stock-sih ve vs worked de's where the ve has more peak hp than the de.
