Thread: Purple plug wiring 94 G20

Ok I posted this many months ago and never got a solid answer. IF there is a way to find it in the FSM - I can't figure it out. I have the plug hard-wired rather than swapping the solenoid as some have. I have no idea if I did it the correct way though.

I know that it has something to do w/ the A/C, and currently my RPM's go UP when I turn the A/C on.

If anyone has a conclusive answer - I would appreciate it.

Are you talking about the IACV? Or a quick pic to show us what you mean?

I'm just not very clear on what you are looking for.

I don't think it's the IACV - it's the bright purple plug on top of the IM, next to the brown one. It's the only plug on the whole motor that's the bright purple plug (next to the brown one - which I think may be the IACV...).

There is a purple and brown plug on top of the intake manifold for the idle and the AC.

All you need to do is put the brown plug hanress VE to the brown plug harness DE and the purple plug goes to the grey plug that is next to the brown plug on the harness.

Do not put the puple plug to the grey plug with the wire clip holder on it.

The purple plug goes to the grey plug that has the squeeze type grey plug

Mine were not compatible (94 G20 btw) so I had to cut the factory harness and hardwire the purple plug OR swap the DE sensor. I chose the first option - but I don't know if it's wired correctly. I've tried it both ways, it runs both ways. One way the rpms dip when you turn the a/c on, the other they rise.

Huh, my idle rises a bit when I turn the ac on also. I'm gonna have to switch it around.

From my knowledge when the AC turns on the idle should go up about 200 RPMs or so. I could be wrong on this as I am not an AC user. I cant tell you the last time I sat in a SER with AC

I have not used my ac, since I had the DE in there a year ago. So when I turned it on and saw the idle rise a few hundred rpm, I was surprised. From what I remember, the idle would always dip before when the ac was on.

when you turn on the a/c in a car it does kick the idle up a little to compensate for the load and the a/c fan it is normal, unless you mean by over 200 rpm like miko said its a small jump up. and in some cars the a/c compressor can over power the jump up thus getting the idle to dip a little.
