Yes, great video...I wanted more! Kept wanting him to pass that cock-blockin civic and became frustrated when the vid ended lol.

Sick build to boot! Have you considered an ATI damper? Seems very appropriate here...unless not allowed in your class.

kinda sorry now i didnt pursue one harder when our dollar was good. dont know anyone with solid mounts thinking the ve is a smooth motor.

you'll be happy to know geoff gets him in part 2. there are a whole stack of his races on youtube.

finally got the headers and exhaust on this week. so i have done a Before /After comparison , including virtual dyno runs made on exactly the same ( lightly tuned ) map, and some noise readings using "decibal 10th" iphone app.

Before exhaust. SSAC'S and 2 1/2 inch system. 100cell cat. 18'' resonator and 17733 lukey (baffled) rear muffler.

outside idle.65db.

outside 2000rpm.71db

outside 4000rpm.81db

inside idle. 65 db

inside 2000rpm.75db

inside 4000rpm.96db

After header/exhaust system. protech 4-1's. 3inch mandrel bent system.100cell cat. 12"vibrant and 18" s/s resonators, apexi ws2 rear muffler

outside idle.72db

fitting photos. header ended up just fouling the crossmember, so rather than modify the header, we modified the crossmember. fits now.

the 2 vibrant 12'' quiet resonators wouldn't both fit, so i went with 1 and a 1 18'' s/s resonator.

finally the moment of truth. before and after figures.

before.

119kw @7075 162nm @6832

after

147kw @7300 and 200nm @6769.

i'm looking forward to getting some real dyno figures next month. EDIT** THESE ARE REVISED NUMBERS** STILL 28kw and 38 nm increase. no decrease down low with the bigger system, and very similar noise readings. very different feel under acceleration, it chops through higher revs now (look at the gains from 6k) and holds it longer.

big thanks to bruce at protech fab, pat klutch for the advice, and almet engineering for their work on the exhaust.

Numbers are in the right range, but I would expect it to make power well above 8K with that header, push that rev limit out and keep tuning. Virtual dyno is hit or miss with me. On an actual dyno run it is perfect, but on the street I can never get good or consistent numbers. The most important thing is to get it tuned correctly. It seems like your cam switch point could use some work too. Get on a real dyno and get it tuned, makes a huge difference.

So after much research and questioning about virtual dyno, i replugged some new perimeters into it today, and redone the previous graphs with (i think) some much more believable ( for an partially tuned rich map) figures. the headers and exhaust figures will still pretty spot on but. massive 28kw and 38nm gains.

bear in mind that (up to now at least) the high 140's kw is the best ever figure for a sr20ve in australia. i think its quite possible that i will be in the 160's come dyno tune time next month. looking forward to that very much next month. i will be asking the dyno for a base run to see how close the vitrual dyno was.

for those who may be wondering why the motor isn't singing to 9000rpm at the minute might wanna check the afr's in the picture below. its a ugly mix of 10 to 1's to 12 to 1"s. i figure john (jktuning) kerr had the afr's nearly perfect before it was discovered that the intake manifold was leaking and the trumpets had fallen off inside the plenum on the intake manifold. given that the motor is being tuned next month, the john was recently married, i really haven't bothered getting it any better. stay tuned but..
