88mm Builds
Those of you running them how long have you been?

I'm thinking of longevity, I know the guys in PR have been running them with great results but what sort of use besides drag racing do they get?

Has anyone done any circuit work so hard 20-30 minute sessions?

I have about 10K on mine, daily driving in the summer. And i do not drive like a grandma, it sees red line everyday, but no extended "race" abuse. Compression and leak down tests are good. Runs strong and still trying to make more power.

My short block has seen over 100 Dyno passes some street use and many visits to the Drag strip abuse with petrol 93 octane E10 93 octane, E85, Methanol and M5.
One head gasket failure and constantly revved to 9000rpm..
Still put down 248whp on E10 93 and 272whp on M5.
I think a 88mm motor will hold some 30min sessions if the motor its correctly built and tuned!!

You'd be surprised how many races those engines ran before full rebuilds were performed.......lots of good information to be found on the interwebs. I'll exit since i don't own VE.

A long lasting 88mm build starts in the machine shop. I wouldn't trust a bore and hone job without a torque plate.

The machine shop has a torque plate, I'm also giving them a gearbox bell housing to bolt to the block whilst its done.
