looking at buy sr16ve with spun bearing. Question?
So I'm currently looking at buying an sr16ve with a spun bearing. I really only wanted the head for future plans but he is not willing to seperate from the block. He offered the whole thing to me for $475 Cad. I'm wondering if thats a reasonable price and if there is anything that could possibly be damaged in the head from a spun bearing? Thanks Dave

It is more likely to end up with debris in the oil from the bearing going into the head and scoring the hell out of the cam journals?

Someone had mentioned it would only damage the crank which most people arnt using anyway. I'll have him get good pics of the head with the valve cover off and close ups of the journals so I know what everything is looking like. Thanks Dave

Factor in the cost of a new oil pump, bearings, engineering, head gasket etc against the cost of a clean imported motor and make your call from there.

I wouldnt be too concerned about the motor unless it was driven after the bearing spun. The heads are usually still ok.

I wouldn't purchase it, but that may just be me. There's always a chance he damaged valves cause there's really no telling if it's not just a spun bearing.

Yea I didn't end up purchasing it. I couldn't seem to work out a reasonable deal for it and he wouldn't part with just the head which is what I wanted. Dave
