If using the metal VET make sure block and head are flat!! Will save you some headache in the future!!

or you could place factory pistons back in the engine and avoid all this mess period and focus on your breathing mods and fine tuning.... you don't need more than 160 hp to have a fun daily,reliability is in part of what makes it fun, like I told you if my de did not practically shit the bed I still would be rocking my traditional de engine. . I would have saved a shit ton of money in the process the $900 for the engine ,the $900 I paid the jamie to drop it in, + all the misc bullshit to make it work totaling $3-$500. VVL is hype. your sure as hell do not need a lot of power to dominate our streets.

Well since im going to tear down the block again. Im thinking of throwing some 20v's in there. They arent too expensive but higher comp then the regular ve pistons. Low enough to be safe on pump gas, and ill be selling my sr16's so they will pretty much be free.. The goal is not to dominate the streets, I just want something with some balls to throw in my nx.

I know this is not exactly what you want to hear but, If you end up needing to fuel up somewhere with bad fuel you can also retard the mechanical timing via the distributor for the time being or purchase some octane booster and keep it in the car if you know you will be leaving the states. This should keep things safe and still allow you to have that little bit of extra power. In a N/A car, every little bit of compression really helps.

Like payu stated. Get it tuned for 91 or 93 octane and keep a bottle or two of octane Booster on deck. Tune is key!

@D-unit101 , I tried out the octane boost and retarded the timing and man. Feels alot better climbing rpm's. Little to now bogging now. Its not a tune but it pulls pretty nice. Thanks for the advice.
