GTI-R or Non GTI-R main bearings
Hello,

Because the size of the GTI-R or Non GTI-R main bearings are the same im wondering whats better to mount in a sr20ve.
The GTI-R bearings has 5 oil holes and a non GTI-R has 2 holes. And for the record; a sr20Ve has also 2 holes.

The size of the conrod bearing are not the same but the main bearings are im curious about whats better and why thats better.
Thank you!

People use the gtir main bearings for 'better' lubrication due to the extra holes.

Worry about the rod bearings, the weak link, not the main bearings.

Use the bearings that have oil holes that match your block. If you've modified your block to use the extra oiling holes or it already has the extended oil groove then use the GTi-R bearings. If you don't have the extended oil groove, use the normal main bearings.

Main bearings feed the rod bearings. More oiling is better but this:

SR20VE blocks have the oil groove from the factory so run the 5 hole mains (GTi-R). Rods are standard unless you machine it to be able to run the GTi-R bearing or if you running the SR20VE-T or 20V rods I believe are 19mm wide.

Totaly clear to me, the VE indeed has the long oilfeed sleeve. Ive order the GTI-R mains and already had the conrod ones. Those are still the stock ones.

I think Mazworx will machine the block for the 5 hole bearings. They also sell ACL 5 hole bearings along with ones that have been coated by Calico. Is it just the conrod bearings that are 19mm on the GTI-R, or is it the mains also?

Is it really necessary to have extra bearing holes? If you are planning on a high hp build? What can happen and why if you don’t have extra holes?
