The pan probably got smashed up into the oil pickup so no oil is moving... it happens more often than folks may think with sr20 engines.

So if that is the case, the pump is probably OK then, just need the new pan and pickup?

That's my guess, that's what I would do. IMO I think your engine & oil pump are fine since all you did was a 10 min idle.

I think the motor internally is fine, as when I shut it off it was idling smoothly, but I'm not sure about the headgasket. I drained the oil and it's appearance disturbed me. Here's a pic of the drain plug. Look at how the left side is completely bent, also the washer that was on it is like melted to it and coming off in chunks (on the top left you can see a piece of the washer sticking up):

We bought a p10 which had less than 10psi oil pressure with the oil light flickering on and off.... removed the oil pan and pounded it out since it was smashed, put it back on and good to go back to normal oil pressure and no more oil light. No idea how long it was doing that but that was over 35k miles ago at this point and that engine is still going strong!

This whole thread is confusing. At this point, you should have your ish back up and running by next summer. Since it sounds like you're going to drag this out legally, for a tow where nobody can prove anything...

Can't blame the towing truck for the road rash. That looks like high speed bottoming. One mph pull does not create all that damage, plus fresh damage does not rust up that quick.
