That rev limit is low but if your ok with it then cool, I rev my bone stock ve to 8k every time I drive it and beat the heck out of it no issues.

I'm not sure what intake your using but on the stock intake the idle valve source connects to the intake via a metal conduit. I took that out and welded a small washer on one end reducing the air flow. This fixed my jwt ecu idle surge issues and all the idle up functions still worked perfect.

If you're revving a stock VE with stock cams/springs to 8K RPM you're asking for serious trouble.

OP was right having them set the rev limit at 7200RPM with stock cams. You should have N1 cams and springs to go past 8000RPM+. Plus, your surely not making any power past 7500RPM with stock cams. My fuel cut is set at 8400RPM. With N1's and ST valve springs I made my peak HP @ 7980RPM. So even with N1 cams/springs I still don't make the most power at 8K.

I'd get the N1's if I were you if you can afford it and continue to go to 8K....

I have been revving mine to 8k for about two years now bone stock. Now it's boosted and I beat the piss out of it the same way but on 10psi. My other ve-t I rev to 7800 stock guts on 10psi and it's been running strong for over two years. I have two ve-t cars and I beat them like a red head step uncle(more PC), they take it and love it. I don't daily my toys so I totally get keeping it safe but Im not scared to push the limits, shit sr20ve are so cheap Im thinking about boosting my older one to death just to see what it can handle. Ok back on topic.

You can boost the DE without any internal work too. But there's a limit of course

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would think too much air in through the iac system wouldn't affect a WOT issue

Crazy man. Well I didn't know it was boosted.. but, 8K with stock cams/springs, wow. Did you ever dynojet it? Where's the peak power at?

Jwt tuned ecus idle duty and recovery can be a little iffy so try what I did and see if it helps. Good luck

And yes you can boost the stock ve, they run hard on boost and it doesn't take much to make great hp.
