what are you monitoring coolant temp with, Mark? if your not using an accurate method, you can disregard all advice posted here.

the fan won't come on till 210*-212*(factory setting). but i think you can change that with the calum rt/TPRT if you wish.
the car has ALL the proper sensors installed.. it also has a huge mishimoto radiator, new water pump, belts and hoses. that engine should be running super-cool with that big mishi in there.
check the tension on the belts...they may have stretched a little since brand new, but i doubt it. maybe try the fsm style cooling system burp (for an air pocket).
have you messed with the ignition timing? too much advance can cause an engine to detonate and run hotter. but then, that mishi would certainly keep things in check. save any further advice for an answer to my question up top.

It is called a tuneable ecu. I understand that wiring a switch works, but its bad advice. That is something YOU would do, not something I as a professional mechanic would ever recommend. If you want that kind of control, drop the cash on a nismotronic. Otherwise, don't deal out bad advice.

some folks only know 1960's era work-arounds;

storm...read the o.p. again. it has NO A/C.

this is what mine has, Switch Radiator Fan Temp Thermo Adjustable 24 0100 | eBay no problems at all, and if I want them to turn on earlier just dial it a bit lower and your done. You'll also need a relay for it

You can think its bad, I don't. I can keep my fans running whenever I want them to in line waiting to run. That makes a difference when it's 108 degrees on the pavement in July. This is for my track car, not a daily driver.

For a quick fix what I would do is connect the ac fan in the circuit of the existing fan... So when it comes on then both should.... It's happened to me on those hot days in traffic one fan just won't cut it....

We havent changed the timing at all. We just tested the fan via jumper and it works! Fusable links seem good too. Now we just need it to activate when hot. I assume hot means when the guage starts getting to 3/4. And it gets there in stop and go traffic. Since there is no AC we tried to jumper the fan to the AC plug just in case it was the plug or harness. But we could not get the AC button to trigger the fan. I guess we will try to check for air bubbles in the system next.

Air bubbles would be noticeable as the temp sensor would be fluctuating. When the sensor sees a void (air bubble) the temp spikes due to the air being super heated. 210 seems really high, I believe it is closer to 180 or so. A digital temp gun is a good substitute if you do not have a way to monitor temps realtime. Have you replaced the temp sensors?

Overheating. Testing fan
I have not replaced any sensors. But I will if I could get some idea of their locations. Anyone got pics?

I see a couple items plugged in just under the manifold on the left side but not sure which is the sensor.

a consult cable can tell you the temp the ecu is seeing in real time. you can test the fans for functionality with it as well. if you are in the market, i bought this one and it works great
