If your going to build a block just buy a complete VE block so you know your working with something good vs someones fuck up.

This is some good advice. There is a lot of people that will buy the parts you will strip off the engine.

Well I say I'm going to start off with a bare block because I had one offered to me by a trusted forum member, so I don't think I'll have any issues with that, and also like I said the entire thing would be machined anyways

I don't see you having a need for a girdle. We ran a stock VE crank without girdle upwards of 300whp and 10,000rpm revs without issue. I wouldn't bother with the N1 runners. Just get a stock intake manifold. Performance Plus has a plenum with stacks inside to add a little bit of runner length. Trust me man, find a complete VE head. They randomly pop up at good prices.

I have a full custom excessive manifold for sale that would do very well on a 2.0-2.2. It also happens to be chilling with marsh tuning if your interested

go 88mm and be done. dont even bother putting an NA motor together without going to 88mm. especially with your goals, the bore will do a lot for overall whp figures

not to mention some added whp running without the girdle. i never ran one on any of my all motor set ups either.

ok, so on my list of things to find then would be a complete vvl head (since i would be changing to N1 cams probably, would it be alright to find one complete minus cams? or one with the N1 cams in it already? figure i could save a step that way

and since machining would be done on head it seems that finding a 20v would not be worth the extra expense because of this
