No spacer is needed with the damper. only needed if you put it on a DE for some reason. according to their website anyway. I haven't put it on. the furthest I've gotten with the build is putting the crank in. but I'm going to pull it out to bring the block to the machine shop WITH the oil pump this time. smh.
would anyone recommend getting my rotating assembly balanced? idk if It's neccessary

Balance the rotating assembly, that is a must. Correct, the spacer is only needed for "Standard DE engines".
