well, update:
I broke my foot and had a hard time standing, so I took a 3 month break cuz short term disability checks are small, meow Im back at it. got all the valves out today, and was going to port it a lil. BUT, I've never seen a VE head all apart; and it doesn't look like much is required at all so I'm not gonna touch it. places that look like they can be touched up look a little thin. So im just doing stem seals, valve lapping, and throwing my supertechs in there. getting it cleaned tmo. I should have it together and dropped in this week.

Anyone have a VE start up map for Haltech e8?

ATI damper being ordered tomorrow, ARP headstuds and VET headgasket on the way. pix on the way. I hope

are DE valve stem shims the same as VE? I'm missing one from shipping.

I had to have the block machine to smooth out some nicks, the shop doesn't know how much they took out. Am I going to need to adjust my cam timing now? how do I find out if I need to or not??

Gots all my stuff now. Pistons, vet hg, the correct studs, and damper. Everything is cleaned, prepped and ready for assembly. Im excited. I still need a header, haltech map sensor, and to wire up my wide band. Gots all my 6 speed swap stuff too.

Im gonna strip down the engine harness (again) and include wiring for MAP, IAT, solenoids, and wide band sensors. I dont like clutter in my car.

Did they machine the oil pump with the block?

Good point.

Seems to be a common issue, looking over the threads.

So did you need a spacer for the ati damper?

holy crap, no I didnt get the pump machined with the block.. oops.. It's not all together yet. I've been working on my spec v and doing other junk in my spare time.

No spacer is needed with the damper. only needed if you put it on a DE for some reason. according to their website anyway. I haven't put it on. the furthest I've gotten with the build is putting the crank in. but I'm going to pull it out to bring the block to the machine shop WITH the oil pump this time. smh.

would anyone recommend getting my rotating assembly balanced? idk if It's neccessary

balancing my bottom end cost me $165. you probably spent 2 x that on the ati damper. the ati damper is there to absorb vibrations and harmonics generated by the motor. i know the sr20's spin up pretty good from the factory, but balancing a motor that is probably going to get rev'd hard, why wouldn't you?
