Yeah probably. FWIW mine is set at 5100-5200 and I made peak power just a hair under 8000RPM.

with i/h and shitty exhaust i had my peak power at ~6.8k, i have my vvl set to come on at 4800 and i get max torque when vvl kicks on

5k is a good area to be at. You should play with the switch to see what rpm you feel best for you.

Sr20ve stock cams vvl act. Intake at 5400 exhaust 5600. On the Dyno the car lost power changing over sooner.

Remember feels good and works good are not the same thing. You might think your car is faster or making more power but the truth is its not. On the Dyno my car lost power switching vvl on before 5400rpms. I had been messing with it on the rd and would have sworn it was faster/better switching around 4800 but this was not the case. I don't recall the exact #s but I know I lost 6-8hp with premature cam crossover.

Man, that is one of the truest things ever spoken. I know you were just casually replying but that has an application far beyond modifying vehicles. Blown away, seriously, it really makes so much sense. Such a good quote.
