Good info. So, in your opinion, would one lose power with a shorter yet bigger ID(4") pipe if it was behind the headlight? Thanx.

I def notice a difference in real world driving conditions going from a short WAI to a CAI.. however, on my car, it made no difference on the dyno between setups.. I tried a bunch of them. But it really does feel different when you actually drive it, I guess with the way the air is flowing around the car instead of just a fan like on the dyno.

Yes!! Basically you will lose way too much velocity of air with a 4in intake piping in my opinion and definitively cold air > warm air and the ram effect of the intake coming out of the headlight its even better for track purpose!!

Close the hood when you make the dyno pass with a WAI and you will see the difference.

What shape did you gentlemen receive your plenum adapter plate in? I assumed it would be machined to perfection, but I received mine today and it is actually quite rough, with scratches on the surface and the port transitions are definitely not as smooth as they could be. I am mainly just curious if that is normal.

This is the plate I am referring to (not my picture).

Hmm.. what was the price? If it was significant I'd inquire to the seller about that; I would think it would be relatively smooth, unless it was a cheaper one

It was normal with the one I got in my hands. Thats probably why everybody port them...

You " have" to port it. It's basically just an adapter. Final touch up is up to u.

Mine after porting.

Interesting. Was the car tuned after the change to the shorter setup? I'm running a 4" setup now but it's pretty much only 12" long between filter and tb.
