Most people run some type of tuneable ECU like
Calum
Nistune
Nismotronic

Alot of people tend to use a stock DE MAF and stock DE ECU when they first get their swap together untill they can afford/source the upgrades. You run quite rich with this set up but I have not herd of any problems beside bad MPG's and lack of performance.

also talk to greg v at gspec about megasquirt, he talked to me about their new ecu when i saw him in seattle and it sounds like a great way to go without spending lots of money.

for getting it running just use stock de ecu with properly matched mafs and the ve injectors. i wouldn't try and hit vvl with that set up, but you can drive it easy and mpg won't suffer too much, i ran that set up for about 3 months before i sent my ecu to jwt.

I actually am running a stock de ecu(94 g20) and my stock de MAG with no problems... It actually ran really lean on all low throttle, at idle it actually needed +43 on my AFC lol.. on WOT its just ranging from -17 to -11 lol. Runs perfectly fine and I put down some decent numbers for what I have. No problems going into vvl like everyone claims as long as you can tune it with a wideband.. just sayin :/

Good tips, thanks all. Sorry, should of been a little more specific:
Current/starting foundation - 94 Sentra E (GA16DE)
New Motor - SR16VE with wiring harness, no maf and ecu
Plans - Keep NA for SCCA autocross, want decent to high horse power and torque gains
Parts for during swap - Mishimoto radiator, fans, and hoses; TWM short shifter; Energy Suspension motor and transmission mounts; Clutchmaster 3.5 clutch and flywheel; Weapon R intake; any misc. things ie plugs; cap n rotor; wires; starter...maf;ecu

Do you recommend hitting up the local pick-n-pulls and fishing for MAF and ECU; N60, E60, N62, SR20DE MAF and ECU?

Get a sr20de ecu, n60 maf from the junkyard dont forget the maf wiring tho!

Then send the ecu to nismotronic an have them upgrade it for you..

You will not regret it, its money well spent I assure you..

If thats too much for you, source a sr16ve ecu an maf.. this is an area you do Not want to skimp on especially for what you want to use it for.. and honestly you should of done more research before you even decided what engine to use..

One last item you will want so you can tune your air fuel ratio is a wideband, without it you cannot do any street tuning to dial your tune in before dynoing tuning..

Hope that helps

Oh and you need a se-r engine harness man!

Infact you will need a bunch of se-r stuff, hopefully you have a list of what you have an what you still need...

Aside from the ecu an maf you basically treat this as a ga16 to sr20de swap slash ve swap lol

i made my ga16 harness work for my ve but i get random leaning out in closed loop, dunno if thats the reason or not. new o2 so its that or the ecu. i have an sr harness to swap in but its been so damn cold out and i only have a car port to work under

Hello All,

Thanks everyone for all the feedback and info. Got luck at local Pick N Pull this past Sunday and got both an N60 and N62. Also been is constant discussion with NismoTronic and looks like I will be going with them.
