You wont hit 250whp in a NA VE without spending about 5k in mods, internals etc. assuming you do it all yourself. Just the header i have was $800.

$5K in mods are you crazy? A basic chipped ecu, subaru sti injectors, N62 maf, used T28 kit off the forum, intercooler and piping and front mount used off the forum, 3" exhaust and muffler all used off the forum and a decent clutch will be nowhere close to $5K dude you dont have to build a VE to make and safely run 300+whp

Think you missed where Storm said NA VE..

Yes thank you. I was referring to staying N/A and trying to make 250WHP in SR20VE. It's relatively easy to make 200-210WHP but that extra 40 to make 250whp will not be easy.

Let's see (and this doesn't include the VE motor itself which is usually what, $800?)
Just the bolt on parts alone, here's what I have that made 206WHP in my VE:

N1 cams/valve springs = $700ish
Good header = $800-$1,000
3" exhaust and remove the cat if you can = $400-$600
Intake, cold air/warm air, whatever = $100-$200
Lightweight flywheel, pressure plate and clutch = $600
ECU tune = ??
Oil catch can = $100?
G-spec pulleys = $200
Thermal intake spacers = $ forget how much
N60 MAF = $60
MSD ignition box = $150

That's just the basics, and it's like $4k, not including the SR20VE motor, and not including stuff like eliminating power steering and getting the Sentra trim model "E" rack etc, port and polishing the head etc. To get to 250WHP, you're talking that amount all over again, or close to it.

Turbo is a whole different game.

Yes I absolutely missed where you said $5K plus to make 250+whp staying NA my apologies storm I was rushing through reading your post on my phone at work lol.

Note. My car must have a due to the climate I live in. Also power steering.

I was thinking about going ve with upgraded bits that would make sense when I go ve - t.

I'll be going turbo when I get another vehicle as I have plans to get a pickup truck for daily.

Ve +t go.

I think people are hyping up the Ve a little too much..... Stick with the stock De learn the engine and after 1-2 years perform the Ve swap. In my opinion you need respect for the factory engine before you can respect what a ve can do out the box.

This is true. I modded SR20DE's for years and years. If I had just started with the VE, it wouldn't be the same. in some respect, I miss the purity of the DE sometimes, but the VE is awesome when done right.

I played around with a sr20 De for a year or so. It's a pretty good platform but I sold the car. So I decided to go with something good and I won't need to swap it out soon.

all this hp talk makes me sick....

its all about where the powe rband is and where it is most effective. big numbers are just that big numbers but how you put them to the ground is where the real challenge and fun is. I was a young kid like you always chasing big numbers making highway monsters just to say hey i drive a 400hp car but its still a sentra

bone stock ve 100shot of nitrous light car and you are kicking peoples ass at the track

so VE is GO!

this right here makes me sick haha

its a 20 year old car there is a lot more to be done before a motor swap in my eyes.

Well have you asked what I planned to do wrt suspension and brakes? Fuel system?
I already have that planned out. It's just the engine, I'm not sure what parts agree with one another.

I can just go by a tuner and buy whatever he said to buy but I'm trying to get information and people personal opinion. that's all

my personal opinion would be to drive the car work out all of the other stuff like suspension bushings brakes regular maintenance stuff that the car will need. Save my money and not dump a new motor into it until needed
