Should I buy a ve? Help
Basically I'm going to be buying a stock Se - r b13.

And I'm pondering if I should go with a ve swap.
I'm able to get the engine and gearbox from a p11.

I intend to keep the car for at least 5 years so I want to do it good. My power goals are 250hp. I'm trying to just mod the ve with just sr16 cams. Maybe some cams and a nos system.
But does this make sense? I know this is pretty much the limit for the ve without getting into the engine.

I can easily get a det w11 for a bit more and do closer to 350 hp without much work. I won't need to touch internals. Just turbos and bolt ons.

So basically go with a na build or go boosted.

And why I should go with either.

Here are some things to think about. Ve wont make 250hp without full build or nitrous. You can get 200hp with bolt ons and cams from the ve. Det able to pull 250hp on stock turbo but 350hp will require large upgrades costing as much as the engine did at least. If this car is going to be daily driven and your ok with 200hp then ve is the way to go. The ve will require very little maintenance and is easy to instal/work on. A stock det install will be more work but maintenance is still easy. A 350hp det is a lot more work and maintenance. My b13 made 354whp and run perfect for 7 years so a daily big turbo b13 will last if cared for but it needs lots of care to keep it perfect. Good luck.

i think you should take care of proper maintenance stuff before you swap anything these cars are old and need attention in other areas first

and ve handle boost just fine look around here and you will see

Well the car will be a daily and I dont like maintenance. i prefer to spend money on good parts and have them working best as possible. So the ve should be the best bet for me. 200hp with bolt ons will be pretty good for me. Once its NA ill want to have the NOS

so VE is GO!

VE and be done with it and if you are hungry for more power bolt on a T28 kit that will be more than enough for your power goals!
