To the ops question, I will say that the 184cs make more than n1s but gains on a basic 2.0 are pretty small. But on a 2.3 or 2.4 their 10+ whp... the 184e are even larger so don't expect any gains on a simple 2.0...maybe if you have something in the 270-280+ whp range you can justify a cam larger than the 184c

I think cory is right, its the bigger motors that have the most gain. 90% of the VE's out there are stock internals. The other is if you can get a set of N1s for $500, and Kelfords are close to $1000, is it worth the 3-5HP you are gaining. To the majority it is not, and N1s can be even had for less which makes them really attractive. For the few that are pushing the envelope Kelford is the only one making any sort of advancements, and we all have to be glad that someone is.

If you think about the N1s, they were designed for a race motor by Nissan, i would love to see how much R&D they have in them. Now look at it from another companies view, how much is it going to take to greatly improve the design for a 2.0-2.1L VE? How many sets are they going to sell? Like others have said, this is a dying motor and car so support is not going to go up much, although the VE has more support than ever, it is probably hitting its prime.

On my bone stock VE long block I gained 9whp peak and 5-8 through the entire powerband while holding power much longer.

Forget peak HP. The gains everywhere else, especially in the mid range made it worth while.

Randy's B13 made 221whp on a completely stock VE with kelfords, spring and retainers and BJ's manifold. 214 on N1's with the same manifold.

We all know what N1s can do, its a hard cam to beat for the price. And lets not get into intake manifolds, if only we had one or two full intake manis off the shelf options. Xcessive is the only one, and thats just the plenum with good gains for the price invested.

Thanks guys yeh still considering the 184e cam , as Jamie said it's not all peak hp the midrange gains is where the benefits I believe are more beneficial.

Jamie, you wouldn't happen to have some dyno graphs overplayed to show the gains at all?

We have a set of 184-E here but no luck yet with then all I can say its be prepared to get a shim kit to completely reshim the head and also plenty of cash for Dyno tuning and cam gear tuning!! since they are nothing close Drop in cam!!
Dont expect to see a stock motor with a Dyno overlay of 184-E VS N1 since it wont happen!!
N1 cams Its the best WHP per Dollar you can get anything over that will be very expensive!!
