Thread: Help! High Idle & Fluctuating idle

when I installed my engine I did the coolant bypass from the Throttle body I ran the lines today. as I stated earlier. and the thing runs totally normal.

Is this under the butterfly wheel? How do I adjust this in or out?

Okay I checked out some stuff today.

1)I do not believe I have a vacuum leak.

2) Still have the high idle issue, but every time I try and put the car in gear the idle starts fluctuating and the minute I take it out of gear it will go back to the high idle issue only. Repeat the process again about putting the car in gear and the fluctuating comes back, take it out of gear and goes away. This is only me putting it into the gear and not even releasing the clutch pedal (no load?). Is there someway I switched two similar plugs around? Is this even possible about just putting the car into gear and it effects the idle to start fluctuating?

3) I messed with the TPS again not really sure what is the correct way to properly adjust it (voltage reading wise 4.6 cold and 4.8-4.9 warmed up?) does anyone have a proper write for me to go off of?

5)Could there be something wrong with my ECU?

Voltage at the tps should be checked at the middle wire and the top wire. You should read between .40-.50 volts.

What is happening when you put it in gear is your are activating the PNP SWITCH. This is located on the transmission, you cannot get this plug crossed.

Set your tps. Once done, set idle with the iacv, then set timing. You may have to mess with the idle again if your timing was too far out.

To set the cold idle, start the car (when cold of course), you will see a screw mechanism with a stop nut below the throttle linkage (see picture). I believe tightening it down will raise the cold idle and loosening it up lowers the cold idle. Depending on ambient temperature, you'll only have a few minutes to set it. When I set mine it was easiest and gave me the most time to dial it in very early morning when the air temp was the coldest.
