Thread: DE Engines with 8cw Crank?

Did any lowport SR20DE engines come with an 8cw crank or were they all 4cw? I know that many highport DEs had them but I need to know if any lowport ones do too.

This may seem off-topic for a VE section but it's related to a VE build.

All highport DE's came with 8cw and the RR lowport DE's came with 4CW.

I'm not aware of non-RR lowport motors. Think I heard someone mention that the other day.

IIRC, all non-rr de's came with the 8cw.

Well my P10 has a spraybar lowport with 8CW.

How can you differentiate a non-RR lowport from a RR lowport? Are there any differences noticable by looking at the (exterior) of the motor?

And what about SR18's? Do they share a crank with the SR20?

valve over and intake manifold are the obvious ones. valve cover on the RR's look like the VE (taller with humps are around the outer edges) but in bare aluminum color. The IM is a little shorter and smoother/rounder also similar to the VE's.

Also look carefully into the oil filler oil and you can see the spraybars in the non-RR engine.
The biggest giveaway is the valvecover like ser96 said. the IM is very squared off in the Spaybar lowport and tapered and less straight with the RR engine.

since im sure ur aware... whats the weight differences btween 4 and 8 again?

Iirc it is 8lbs.

kinda off topic... but why an 8cw for a ve build? cos of vibration?...
